Fourteen winners in the eyewear category of the Best Craftspeople in France competition (MOF) first attended the “SILMO” world optics fair in 2008. Following the success of this event, they decided to create an association to boost representation of the eyewear manufacturing profession in France and abroad.
In 2011, 6 MOF eyewear trainers joined forces to create an eyewear training centre in Morez. The centre enables opticians, designers, optical professionals and people changing careers to acquire solid foundations in eyewear making, to perfect their skills and gain independence in the customization and artisan production of frames. Trainees follow an à la carte training programme delivered exclusively by MOF trainers.
Since our first SILMO, we have had the honour of being welcomed each year to share our introduction to eyewear workshops with visitors to SILMO Paris.
